I just returned from my soul journey to New Mexico where I took a Body Talk training, an amazing healing modality I plan to incorporate into my nutrition practice. This system allows me to tune into the body, find where there are any imbalances and repair them on the spot.
In addition to this course, I spent some quality time with my 91 year old grandma. She started the first health food store in Albuquerque back in the 1970’s and worked there 5 days a week until just a couple of years ago. She is my original inspiration and I always love getting to talk to her to hear about her life and how different things were back in the day. She was born in 1922 and grew up on a farm during the Great Depression, made it through World War II, tended to my grandpa for years after he developed seizures and ultimately cancer from being sprayed with Agent Orange in the bee fields where he kept his bees. My grandma has this beautiful bone structure and teeth that one rarely sees anymore. It originated from folks eating nutrient dense foods close to the land and the diet she grew up on such as home grown veggies, fresh eggs, raw milk, butter and cheese, pastured pork, chicken and beef and plenty of organ meats. She knows certain tricks in the kitchen too that I don’t know. Every morning as we made breakfast together, she would whisk up the eggs and then put a splash of water in them. I asked her why she did this but she didn’t know. She says she has always done that.
I also learned bee keeping from my uncle which is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Bee keeping has been in my family for three generations starting with my great grandpa back in Sweden and I always knew I would take it on someday. I recently acquired a bee hive and now, thanks to my uncle, I actually know how to open it up, check on the bees and take out their delicious honey for my culinary and medicinal use. I also ventured up to the mountains of Santa Fe where I camped, journaled, prayed and had some beautiful alone time in nature. I treated myself to a wonderful morning of hot springs at one of my favorite spots, Ten Thousand Waves and followed up my soaking with a fabulous green chili egg breakfast at a popular local spot in town. What a great time – hot springs, camping, visiting my Native American friends on their pueblo, cool mountain air, pottery, green chilies, bee keeping – my idea of a great soul journey. Oh, and the Santa Fe Farmers Market, of course. Could not forget that beloved highlight!
I am heading off again next week for the majestic mountains of Colorado for some more hot springs, camping and a meditation retreat at Shambhalah Meditation Center.
I hope you enjoy the rest of this season. I look forward to sharing my seasonal menu planning service with you when I return and cleansing together as I lead an online group Nourishing Cleanse in September.
Blessings and Namaste,

This is a great report about your trip. Your grandma at 91: That is amazing. More bees please. And that water whisked in the eggs…it makes them fluffy, as in the same amount of egg but ‘larger’. I do the same. Cheers.

Wow, thanks for filling me in about the egg trick, Aron! Yes, my grandma continues to inspire me even at 91. Bring on the bees!! AL
